To get started, click the «Start»<\/strong><\/span> button in the lower left corner of your desktop:<\/p>\n

In the window that appears, in the «Search programs and files»<\/strong><\/span> field, enter the command «gpedit.msc»<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

«gpedit»<\/strong><\/span> will appear at the top, select it and left-click<\/p>\n

The «Local Group Policy Editor»<\/strong><\/span> will open<\/p>\n

Go to «Computer Configuration»<\/strong><\/span> then «Administrative Templates»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Next, go to «System»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

And press «OK»<\/strong><\/span> or press «Enter»<\/strong><\/span> on the keyboard<\/p>\n

Go to «Configure Windows NTP Client»<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the window that appears, switch to the «Enable»<\/strong><\/span> mode<\/p>\n

Next, we set up<\/p>\n

We change the items, in the «NtpServer»<\/strong><\/span> field we indicate the IP address of the NTP server or its DNS name, for example «pool1.ntp.od.ua»<\/strong><\/span>, or select any other server from our list, and a special server flag is indicated with a comma, in this case it is «0x9»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the «Type»<\/strong><\/span> field, indicate that we will use the «NTP» protocol<\/p>\n

In the «SpecialPollInterval»<\/strong><\/span> field, specify «900»<\/strong><\/span> seconds, this is the server polling interval<\/p>\n

After completing the settings, press «OK»<\/strong><\/span> or press the «Enter»<\/strong><\/span> button on the keyboard<\/p>\n

And the «Local Group Policy Editor»<\/strong><\/span> window is simply closed<\/p>\n

Next, we need to start the time synchronization service<\/p>\n

Press the «Start»<\/strong><\/span> button<\/p>\n

Choose «services»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We are looking for a list service called «Windows Time Service»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the window that opens, we see that the service is started «Manually»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Save the changes by clicking the «OK»<\/strong><\/span> button<\/p>\n

Now we need to check if the service is running and what log entries it has made<\/p>\n

Press the «Start»<\/strong><\/span> button<\/p>\n

In the «Search programs and files»<\/strong><\/span> field, enter the command «eventvwr.msc»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Select «eventvwr.msc»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the «Event Viewer»<\/strong><\/span> window that opens, open the «Windows Logs»<\/strong><\/span> section<\/p>\n

Find the entry whose source is «Time-Service»<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Double-click on the record with the left mouse button, a window with a detailed description of the event will open<\/p>\n

In this case, the entry tells us that the service normally synchronizes time with an external server<\/p>\n

Next, we need to check how accurate our clock is with respect to the external server<\/p>\n

Where «w32tm»<\/strong><\/span> is the time service management tool, «stripchart»<\/strong><\/span> is to display a graph with statistics of clock deviations, «computer:pool1.ntp.od.ua»<\/strong><\/span> is the remote NTP server with which we are comparing local clocks and finally the argument «samples:3»<\/strong><\/span> means to build graph of only 3 compounds<\/p>\n

This graph shows that at 13:30:49 the first of 3 test connections to the external NTP server was made, the result showed that the response delay from the server is +00.0000890 seconds, and the time difference is -00.0112226 seconds<\/p>\n
